SVFD Hosts Auto Extrication Training to Enhance Emergency Response Skills
On Sunday, May 25, 2025, members of the Scioto Valley Fire District took part in a comprehensive auto extrication training session, focused on improving techniques used to safely remove patients from vehicles following accidents.
Throughout the day, firefighters trained on a variety of extrication methods, learning how to efficiently and safely gain access to trapped occupants in a range of vehicle scenarios. A key component of the training included hands-on practice with our new vehicle stabilization equipment, recently acquired through a Safety Intervention Grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC). This state-of-the-art equipment enhances safety for both rescuers and patients during complex vehicle incidents.
We were honored to welcome Lieutenant Corey Temple of Marion Township Fire Department as our guest instructor. Lt. Temple brought valuable experience and insight to the training, helping to ensure our team continues to meet the highest standards of emergency response.
A special thank you goes to Kirby’s Auto Parts & Towing for providing the vehicles used during the training. Their continued support helps us train in realistic scenarios that better prepare us for real-life emergencies.
